PS199 Alumni - solve the school's overcrowding crisis

We, the alumni of PS 199 and their families believe in the importance of community.

We believe that every child has the right to attend his or her neighborhood elementary school.
We believe families belong together. Younger siblings should be able to attend the elementary school their older siblings attend.

We believe that it is the City's responsibility to plan for new school space in the face of new development.

We fully support and advocate all avenues that lead to the funding and building of new schools throughout New York City.

We believe the southern portion of District 3 needs another elementary school.

The population explosion in the area has forced PS 199 to outgrow the space the school occupies in the building.

We believe that the relocation of the Center School is necessary to meet PS 199's urgent space needs.

Just as our children had the opportunity and choice to attend PS 199, all other currently zoned neighborhood children deserve that very same right: the choice to attend the zoned school.

The children's education is suffering. PS 199 is at risk, and needs a solution now.
