Purity in Relationship Vocabulary

In recent years, the verb "to talk" has acquired a most unsettling secondary meaning. The gerund form, "talking", has seen the most egregious abuse. No longer do a man and a woman, or a boy and a girl, court, woo, date, see, go out, be with, call upon, promenade, or go steady. Instead, they "talk".

An example:
"Oh my God, did you hear about Trevor and Cindy? They're totally talking! I mean, Leslie knew he liked her, and Jimmy knew she liked him, and Leslie totes wishes she was talking to Jimmy, btw..."

Talking is not a commitment, and may lead to confusion by either party, especially if one party habitually uses words correctly.

This petition seeks to ban this aberrant usage of the verb "to talk". Acceptable substitutes for this state, which is less than exclusively dating but more than friendship, include "fucking around," plain old "dating", "keeping a mistress", "having a gentleman caller", and "getting it on", especially when accompanied by the dulcet tones of Marvin Gaye.
