This petition is dedicated to gaining support to change our laws regarding property tax payments for Kankakee County.
We feel that by dividing our property tax payments into 4 separate payments, without penalty, would greatly benefit homeowners in our county, particularly, those citizens who are on a fixed income.
This goal can only be achieved if our lawmakers in Springfield simply change the law and allow counties to set their own collection guidelines for property tax payments.
We intend to send this petition to our elected leaders in Springfield and ask for action on this issue immediately.

This program would allow for a smoother cash flow for the Counties of our size. Additionally, quarterly payments by the taxpayer would alleciate part of the burden for those who do not utilize escrow accounts for hoome taxe payments.
