This petition is being made as a way to express the disappointment of us, the REAL Diablo fans, about the way others are bitching about Diablo 3 and the awesome steps it has taken.



There's a long discussion about this matter happening on the forums at http://www.battle.net/forums/board.aspx?ForumName=d3-general , there's thousands of comments in there so if you have any comment or suggestion feel free to do it there. Clearly the intelligent people are the ones who are telling the other people to quit bitching at minor insignificant things or pointing out how they make fools arguments like "unrealistic" in regards to Diablo 3.



The main objective of this petition is to show the morons that they are clearly wrong and bitch about the stupidest things and should really learn to think or at least keep their mouths shut. Hopefully they will read this and learn the error of their ways and things can improve before Blizzard shuts down Diablo 3 from the bitching, and then when it's gone they'll be the only ones to blame.


How Diablo 3 is an accurate continuation of the Diablo series:

- The story seems to be a good continuation from where the Diablo 2 expansion left off.

- The world is gloomy in appearance and seems to have hellish demons running all over.

- The abilities are clearly of Diablo style between the summoning of demons, poisons, whirlwinds, etc.

- Returning characters from the Diablo series, more than just one which is something Diablo 2 didn't even do when continuing from Diablo 1 (other than Kain and a demon formed Griswold and dead Wirt which I don't think those two count).

- Awesome gameplay where you are just slaying countless demons and exploring the awesome world of Diablo's universe.



What the idiots think:

- Cartoon'ish art direction, obviously influenced by the Warcraft universe, Diablo isnt Warcraft.

- Hand made, pastel looking textures with bold lines, defined contours, smooth colors and clean shapes.

- Dungeons with a blue/green environment lighting, technique used in cartoons to depict a dark, creepy and scary feeling but once again, this is Diablo, a mature game, dungeons should have a dark aura with the occasional lights from candles, just like we got in the previews Diablo's.

- Character models defined by cartoon characteristics like over-sized and exaggerated parts, vivid colors and unrealistic elements, almost directly taken away from World of Warcraft and pasted to Diablo.

- Outside scenarios with vivid colors, beautiful forests with colorful vegetation, shinny and beautiful waterfalls where even rainbows take place.

- Cartoon'ish and unrealistic weaponry and armory, over-sized and stylish armors, over-sized weapons, items that look pasted directly from World of Warcraft.

- Blocky, cartoon'ish graphic elements like big, over-sized fire braziers in dungeons, heavily influenced by the World of Warcraft art style, over-sized and cartoon'ish scenario decorations like smiling statues, Warcraft styled architecture and decorations.

- Bosses are completely unrealistic

- 5 Classes is not enough

- Witch Doctor sux, bring back Necro

- Orbs are lame and replace potions



How they are wrong:

- Clearly they have never seen a cartoon if they think that this game is "cartoon'ish" (unless they are counting some Anime in which case they are morons for more reason than what has been shown here). There is nearly nothing "cartoon'ish" about Diablo 3 other than it's not live action which no game is.

- Obviously they didn't pay attention to the detail at all and failed to realize that it isn't has "hard lined" or "smooth" as it seems to be. It is just polished and awesome looking

- First of all it's "previous Diablos" not "previews Diablo's". Second of all, the blue isn't to show it's "dark" but perhaps another source of lighting, something below that gives off a blue-ish color. Those places which are dark (clearly when you see the Boss moving in the background) are BLACK and dark. The dungeons look fine, and it's not even done. Finally, the light radius system was stupid as hell from the beginning. If it's gone, good, if not, who cares? They could still add it before the game is out.

- The Character models look entirely like the Diablo models. Let's clear something up, Models != (does not equal, for you non-computer people) Textures. The Models look to be an accurate look for the Diablo universe. The Textures look just fine as well. And stop using "unrealistic" in a FANTASY game.

- Sure there are waterfalls but who cares? The plants look like they were dying and the bridge was broken and was quite gloomy. The rain seemed very gloomy too. The outside world has more colors than the other Diablo games, true, but they are used well and they give off more detail to the world and make it amazing to go through.

- Diablo 2 had oversized armor and weapons as well, that's not a trait that's on WoW only or even only in Blizzard games. The exaggerations are given to make the weapons and armors feel more epic. Furthermore here are some screenshots

Clearly the Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 armors are far more closely accurate (notice how Diablo 2 has a gigantic helmet? no one in real life would use a helmet like that) more close than WoW to Diablo 3

- The statues look to be grinning devilishly, not smiling happy. Learn the difference. There is nothing "blocky" about Diablo 3.. specially no more than Diablo 2. Diablo 2 had more "blocky' maps, buildings, artistic styles than any Warcraft game.

- The Bosses look bad ass. The way they are "summoned" or appear (rather than just standing around waiting for you like in Diablo 2 and Diablo) and they are incredibly enjoyable looking battles. They look to truly be demons from Hell with the abilities one might imagine a powerful demon from Hell would have (aka, biting off the head of a person and slamming them on the ground).

- 5 Classes was enough for Diablo 2, there's no reason they should bring all Diablo 2 Classes back and then add MORE. That would bring a lot of similarity between classes and would make each class feel less unique and appealing. Besides, the game will hold true to Diablo 2 and easily have 3+ builds per class. That's enough to play through multiple times and play differently.

- I'm sure we can agree that Necromancer was awesome in appearance and badassery (best made up word ever). But Witch Doctor appears to be an interesting change from Necromancer. While holding similar abilities it seems that the Witch Doctor will be a very interesting class to play with very awesome abilities. Give it a chance rather than putting it off completely at the start.

- Orbs are not "replacing" potions but they will help keep the pace of pwning up demons and various monsters up. This could be quite enjoyable instead of having to manage your potions through the belt while demons are beating on you and you're too busy to beat back. Potions are still around it seems but will be a better system and probably best used for the dire situations (when the orbs won't cut it) and/or during boss fights where orbs are not likely as present.



What we want:

- For each and everyone of the people who are bitching to realize that they could potentially bring Blizzard to get fed up and just cancel Diablo 3 all together. And a lot of these people have been bitching and pleading for a Diablo 3 game for 10 years now. Be quiet before you ruin it for the rest of us

- For the idiots to realize that, even though they are bitching, they will still buy the game no matter how "cartoony" and "WoWy" they think it looks.

- For the idiots to go watch a cartoon and realize what's a "Cartoon" and what's "not". Anime doesn't count unless it's one of those child cartoons like Pokemon and whatnot.

- For the morons to at least attempt proper spelling for real words. It's "shiny" not "shiney". God, Firefox even underlines "shiney" so you don't have an excuse unless you're lame and us something like... Internet Explorer in which case, you're obviously an idiot and your opinions amount to nothing from the start.

- To give Blizzard time to finish the game and trying the game out before complaining about it.

- To realize that graphics DON'T MATTER when it comes down to what we all love about Diablo, gameplay and an awesome story. Which, from what we have seen, Diablo 3 brings in spades!



The Idiot's Response to the "Arguments":

Q: The game is still under development, it's on pre alpha stage, we only saw the first act, much can change.

A: True, the game is still under development but the artistic direction isnt since it's one of the first steps in the development of a game, until you have a fully developed artistic direction and concept you cant easily move on with the development of the game, the artistic direction will tell the artists (modelers, texture artists, etc) how the game elements shall look and feel. Since this artistic direction is already fully and happily developed (words from Blizzard) this cartoon'ish and colorful style will be present in the whole game.

R: That doesn't mean that the graphics still can't have a minor change that won't change it to be a bit more gloomy. That's easily done with contrast and whatnot. In fact, if you're so pissed about the "vivid" colors than do that when you get the game. Stop bitching.


Q: Being less cartoon'ish and more realistic would make the game heavier on computers

A: False, there's a lot of techniques like bump mapping that help developers give a realistic look to textures, any recent graphic card with less than 8 years support bump mapping, there's a lot more techniques that can help giving that realistic look, being 3D doesnt mean it should look cartoon'ish.

R: Actually true, the more polygons to more accurately portray a model boggles down the memory and other resources. Clearly you lack any computer understanding. Besides, the models look accurate to Diablo 2's as said before. Regardless, it's not "cartoony" like you think it is.


Q: Diablo 3 happens 20 years after Diablo 2, the world is peaceful and the evil is gone, that's why the scenarios are colorful and vivid.

A: That doesnt mean forgotten dungeons should be clean and shinny, looking like a team of house keeping maidens spent hours there cleaning and making everything clean and shinny, without any trace of dirt, dungeons are supposed to be creepy and scary.

R: They don't look clean at all. They are decaying, there are corpses, the outside seems to have dying plants all over with decaying structures (the bridge). Just because there's more detail to the environment doesn't mean it's "peaceful and happy". The question and answer are both morons.



Finally, I hope everyone read through this completely and realizes that people bitch about shit as if it was their creation and right to make decisions when they have no process in the games. While CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is useful, these people are clearly getting their panties in a knot because they sucked on WoW and were ganked too much by either Horde or Alliance and so they fear that any small hint of WoW in Diablo 3 means that they will suck so bad and have nothing but QQing to their mommies and crying to their blogs while they listen to their emo music wishing they didn't suck so bad. They ignore that the gameplay will be awesome, the monsters look enjoyable, and that the graphics still look quite Diablo even if they do have a bit more color only to show off the awesome detail of things.

tl;dr? Simply put, people need to stop bitching before they ruin what looks like to be an awesome game.
