Reinstate AUSAID as an independant body

On October 31st, Tony Abbott (PM) leader of the Liberal Party, Canberra Australia, disbanded AusAID.
AusAID (The Australian Agency for International Development) is dedicated to making a difference within developing countries.
Tony Abbott, rather than continuing to fund the AusAID program individually, has redistributed funding between DFAT(Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and AusAID which will cause a significant decrease in the quantity of aid given to devloping countries.
To date, AusAID has helped 2 million people gain access to mobile phones in Papau New Guinea and the Pacific, has developed 207 community projects in the Solomon Islands, has provided 5 million people with clean water and sanitation in Indonesia and 64,000 people in Mozambique now have treated water supply. AusAID has built 1,500 schools and provided 65,000 trained teachers in Afghanistan.
By disbanding the AusAID program as an independant statutory body, Tony Abbott has essentially condoned disease, death and lack of education in these poverty-stricken countries. Without proper funding, AusAID cannot spark a change within developing countries and already, in the last few years aid has recieved significant budget cuts.
Following the disbandment of AusAID Tony Abbott proceeded to sign a multi-billion dollar coal mining deal with Gina Reinhardt. The priorities of the Abbott goverment and Abbott himself are clearly misplaced and need to be corrected. Abbott clearly lacks an awareness of how truly important supporting AusAID as an independant program and improving education and living conditions is.
AusAID hsa previously been awarded an ANZAC award for its work in improving living conditions in developing countries and contributions to promoting peace world-wide.
