Rent Control in New Orleans

I live and work in the city of New Orleans, unfortunatly my family and I could not see moving a benifit. Our Jobs that we have worked so hard to keep through the year has paid off, but rent control is still the main issue. My husband and I came home to a half flooded rental home due to the pumps in Jefferson Parish backing sewer into our home, fine we delt but the moment and never missed our rent. Our home was almost complete our landlords gave us 10 days to leave. I had a lease that had expired in august. Now we live in limbo subleasing looking for decent space to raise our family. Rent in the New Orleans Metro area is outragious how is anyone suppose to raise a family and be able to purchase a home if we cannot save for a home? My husband is part of the rebuilding of this city and we were home two weeks after the storm. I also work 50-60 hour weeks in the beauty industry. Please sign my petion to atleast raise the question of rent control in the city of New Orleans.
