I, myself, and many other citizens not only in California, or America, but world wide, are disgusted with the hatred and discrimination that Proposition 8 brings to same-sex couples. I am imploring you to read over the facts, the statistics, and what the people want; not the propaganda or what just one group states. Please, look at this through everybodys eyes. Would you not want your child to be unafraid and feel comfortable should they be homosexual? I can say whole-heartedly and completely that I will accept any children I have in the future, no matter their sexual orientation.
Proposition 8 goes against the US Constitution, taking away the 14th Amendment for a group of people. Some say that it does not discriminate against gay people. That is wrong though. Prop 8 eliminates a gay couples right to marriage; it denies rights against one specific group of people. That, Im afraid, is discrimination.
America is the land of the free, where everybody is to get the same treatment, have the same rights, and be treated equally and with the dignity and respect they deserve. Proposition 8 takes away a gay couples rights. Gay couples deserve to be able to marry whom they love, as any other American. They deserve to have rights and benefits and not worry over if their marriage will be legitimate or not. Already 18000+ gay and lesbian marriages have been nullified by Prop 8.
I cannot explain by myself how important it is that Proposition 8 be revoked, or at least reopened for the people to vote. Please, reopen Proposition 8.
