SUBJECT : REQUEST TO POSTPONE THE ELECTION DATE FROM 17th APRIL 2014 TO 22nd OR 23rd APRIL 2014 AS THE PRESENT DATE WILL LEAD TO LESS VOTING PERCENTAGE ON ACCOUNT OF CONTINUOS HOLIDAYS
Respected Sir,
We bring to your kind notice that the election to State of Karnataka is scheduled on 17/04/2014, which is Thursday.
Thursday is a holiday for voting and next three days is also holiday because Friday is Good Friday, Saturday and Sunday are weekly holidays. Therefore especially, the employees of IT, BT and other organizations get total 4 days of continuous holidays.
This will lead to lakhs of employees working across the state who are young and educated voters would go on holiday/vacation due to which there will be low percentage of voting.
Karnataka is a state having lot of IT and BT population. Since the date is fixed on Thursday, the next dates of three days continuous holidays will certainly result in reduction of percentage of polling, which will deprive the large section of society from casting their votes.
If the date of election is re-scheduled to either 22nd April 2014 (Tuesday) or 23rd April 2014 (Wednesday), the voting percentage would be on higher side.
Hence we request your kindness to consider this request and re-schedule the polling date from 17th April 2014 (Thursday) to either 22nd April 2014 (Tuesday) or 23rd April 2014 (Wednesday).
Thanking you and kindly oblige.
Your’s truly,
Citizen of Karnataka
