Rurouni Kenshin Series and Game

After playing Acquire/Spike's Way of The Samurai (Japanese game was simply called Samurai), it fueled my past interest in wanting a Rurouni Kenshin game, and a localized broadcast of the show. Ill first address our request for the localization of the show.

Rurouni Kenshin is a great show; there is a huge underground following for it in the United States. The current dubs that are available on DVD/VHS are not up to par with what us fans demand. The show should be re-dubbed, and the name "Samurai X" is not acceptable. Its like mocking the show, and mocking the fans that watch it, its a true insult to everyone involved. There is no reason for this show not to be broadcasted in the United States. Its much better than any show currently available in the United States, and has the potential to be much bigger than any other anime in the US. So SME and/or ADV, Media Blasters should come to some type of agreement to bring the show here.

Now I will refer to the game. I am not saying "Way of The Samurai" was a great game, because quite frankly it wasnt. It sold quite well despite the lack of depth and without any license. It had the potential to be a great game but it ultimately falls short of it. If SCE was to buy or license the rights to Rurouni Kenshin to Acquire/Spike to make a Rurouni Kenshin game it would be in everyone's bests interest.

If SCE was serious about this and was to purchase Spike/Acquire, with the help of SCE subsidiaries, and development groups the perfect game could easily be made. With SCEI's Arc Entertainment, SCEE's Team Soho, and SCEA's Sony San Diego Studios working on one game not only would it be perfect in quality, it would also be some what faster of a process despite language barriers and cross seas cooperation. I selected three teams in SCE that I thought could best help Acquire/Spike with a Rurouni Kenshin game.

Some ideas that are some what obvious improvements needed to at least the base of the "Way of The Samurai" game. For those who havent played the game I suggest at least looking at a review before signing the petition.

- The size of the game engulfed all of Japan, and actually had towns people, and more forms of enemies and allies.

- All the characters from Rurouni Kenshin
- Maintain the versus mode, and expand depth, perhaps by including famous samurai such as Yagyu Jubei, Miyamoto Musashi, Oda Nobunaga, and Sasaki Kojiro.
- Use the whole Rurouni Kenshin story, everything thats available, from the manga, to the series, to the ovas.
- Maintain Create-your-own character option.
- Character specific and not sword specific.
- Voice Acting.
- Character specific moves, as in special moves.
- Ability to fix broken sword to some extent.
- Ability to speak to EVERY one in the game, at any time.
- Better graphics engine
- Better hit detection.
- Quicker loading times
- Save points
- Ability to choose between Kenshin's story and your own (create your own character) (ability to age from child to adult, with advancing events in history).
- Online play
- 1 vs. many, instead of 1 vs. 1 only.

Well those arent important, they are just ideas. This is a serious petition, its not something that I will let disappear easily.

I make this petition for us fans, and for the companies that should take advantage of the monumentous franchise that is available to them. SCE this could give you another crucial 1st party game, and SME this could open a new market for you in the United States.
