Salvage Guiding Light

This Petition is directed towards CBS Television Daytime Soap Drama "Guiding Light". In absolute concern of CBS Television Studios, Proctor & Gamble Productions Inc., Ellen Wheeler (Executive Producer), David Kriezman (Head Writer), Alexandra Johnson (Producer), Maria Messina (Producer) and the direction the soap opera "Guiding Light" is headed in.



The Petition is mainly for the fans, who are and have been sick and tired of the slack-hack job the powers that be are making of this now-once classic, monumental and innovative soap. For instance dropped story lines or story lines which havent been written properly in respect to history or shown at all. i.e. Blake Marler in her Coma for months, which no one is concerned with, Lizzie Spauldings grieving for her dead baby or lack there of, Missing family members and children with no explanation and general poorly written story arcs and resolutions of whole stories.



This petition is mainly involving the story line of Joshua Lewis and Cassie Winslows Relationship. The pet-project story line of Ellen Wheeler and David Kriezman. This relationship is going to be the death of Guiding Light. There have been many cancellation rumors over the past few years concerning this show and its because of the low-ratings. To all concerned its obvious what the problem is, the writing, this is why GL has low-ratings. Nobody wants to watch anymore...she show is increasingly becoming more and more like a train-wreck in slow motion, especially the respect for characters personalities and history. in particular the shows resident matriarch Reva Shayne.



I Know what CBS is likely too say, GL has been doing very well for itself, in respects to its 70th year and Find Your Light projects, not excluding the 17 Daytime Emmy Nominations Guiding Light received this year. In many peoples opinion is mainly because of the exceptional actors on the show and nothing else. Because when you get to the bottom line, Guiding Light is one of the lowest rated soaps around and its not because of the acting. Does CBS want to give money to GL, I think so, Can they? I think not. Want money to build more sets, have larger wardrobe, more promotion, to keep veteran actors happy, to keep the younger actors interested? Write better, make better decisions in story lines, be innovative once again. Do it for the fans. Keep us around, because the alternative is for us to tune out. I myself promise to do so, if Josh Lewis and Cassie Winslows love continues to persist or the characters marry at anytime, that day I will turn on the television precisely at 2:59pm and when GL comes on I will promptly turn the television off and continue to do so until something at GL, CBS, P&G gives.



I know that CBS will just ride this petition off as another Josh and Reva fan upset about Josh and Cassiebut it is not sotrue I am upset with the situation, but what I am really upset about is lack of integrity the writers have for character history and as Guiding Light has said many times, history is a big part of whats great about Americas longest running soap. I dont see it and neither do countless others that hopefully to you this petition will show. So, If you feel the way I do, Please join us in the fight to save GL from itself. Either to oust Ellen Wheeler, David Kriezman or to stop the Josh/Cassie story line from progressing into an unavoidable oblivion for all of us REAL fans.

That I am sure will not be displayedso, here it is for your viewing pleasure.



I don't know where I should start. I guess 1981 is good. I remember staying home from school, had the chicken pocks. My gram who's been faithful to the show since it was on radio introduced me to the guiding light. I have been a faithful fan over 25 years, so have a all the woman in my family (we are a big family, my gram had 14 children ten of which are woman, who in turn had little woman , you get the picture). What we don't understand is the whole josh/Cassie "relationship"...It's like the writers of the show forgot Cassie's history and personality, the cassie we know would have NEVER entertained the idea of josh regardless of her feelings. Reva/Josh's passion and dedication to each other( no matter the situation) has been the foundation of the show for a very long time. Yes their relationship has not always been ideal but lately is anything on this show ideal? CBS now, I ask you are the ratings for gl ideal?

Now what bothers us the most and what prompted me to write this letter is the "rumor" that you ellen, said that there are only" about 40 people who don't like josh/cassie"...Don't think so Darlin''. In my family alone (34 woman) are all very disappointed that the incredible love story of reva/josh is dying. you my dear ,are the one killing it!!! WHY??? Any how we have all unanimously decided that if josh/cassie relationship lives, then our televisions will most defiantly tune out on their wedding day. As well as starting online petition to stop the madness. We will go to every gl fan site, message board and chat room and let every one know about the petition. And believe me there will be more than 40 fans signing it and then some. We will move heaven and earth to see you go before reva/josh go. You obviously don't read the message boards or listen to the real fans. it's on! - Bettie Rosario



p.s. Why bother bringing back Maeve Kincade? An actress of her caliber should not be brought back for such garbage story lines.
