Recently, the Grey Highlands Municipality received an "Expression of Interest" to repurpose the Centre Grey Recreational Complex and build a seniors complex in the surrounding park lands (what is known as King Edward Park). This could mean losing our Fair grounds, ball diamond, horse ring and the only green space Markdale has.
By signing this petition, we are asking that I/We the undersigned, hereby petition the Municipality of Grey Highlands to maintain King Edward Park, including all of its associated areas (i.e. Ball diamonds, Centre Grey Recreational Complex, skate park), as local green space available for use by the Community of Markdale, and work with the community to create a strategy in order to optimize use of the Park and its structures to provide activities which promote the health and wellness of the residents of Markdale and surrounding area.
