Save the Mustangs

"Wild horses played one of the most decisive roles in the history of America, and they served us well. Due to public outcry, a law was passed in 1971 to protect the ancestors of these horses from being slaughtered and to keep the "Spirit of the American West" alive by allowing them to remain free in designated areas. Those areas have nearly been cut in half since then and their numbers have been diminished to where wild herds are barely genetically viable. Nearly 20,000 Mustangs are now being kept in "feed lot" conditions by the BLM. The law has now been amended to allow Mustangs to be sold for slaughter by our government. These horses do not deserve this fate.
The BLM, under the new law, has been ordered to sell any
Mustang of any age at auction to the highest bidder, with
no restrictions, if they have been offered unsuccessfully for
adoption 3 times or they are 10 years or older. That means a
foal, like the one pictured above, or healthy Mustangs just
entering the prime of their lives could end up in a
slaughterhouse. It is time for people who find this
unacceptable to DO SOMETHING!"
