SAVE THE SURF AREAS OF THE UAE

Surfing is now being threatened into extinction by the now enforced banning of several beaches to surfing (fines will now be issued) such as JBR and surfers being forced into a small area to surf at Sunset beach between the red flags only. This has now been effected as of 1st January 2011 and is now being enforced.
The UAE has thousands of kilometers of beach to swim on yet the only 2 major surfing beaches have had surfing banned barring a 30m Surf Zone for all to use. Signs are posted on every single beach in the UAE stating that surfing is banned - the authorities have now indicated that they are going to start enforcing this with effect of Jan 1st by enforcing surfing into 1 tiny area. This means that over 80+ surfers on a busy day plus 2 surf schools are cramped into this tiny area leading to massive number of injuries and as surfers pull out virtually all drowning people in the surf, further life will be lost in drownings.
We need your help to prove that we are a far bigger group, that we contribute to the safety of the beach and need to be allocated space too.
What we want you to do is simply sign the petition so we can show the authorities that there are MORE than just a handful of surfers using the surfing areas and that a greater area needs to be dedicated to this sport. You will not get in trouble so please spread the petition around as we need maximum support.
We are not trying to challenge the authorities but rather prove that we are a large group of surfriders from all waveriding sports and that the UAE has to dedicate recreational wave riding areas to us all.
Every single signature helps so please support us so we can give YOU a free and unhindered area to surf in. The petition will be handed to the Dubai Sports council and discussed directly with HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum to ensure surfing is preserved forever.
