SENATOR KEN SALAZAR: STOP SUPPORTING AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS

Dear Senator Ken Salazar of Colorado:

This regards your support for the well-known Bush/Kennedy/McCain immigration bill, also known as S. 1348

We the undersigned object to any support of this bill. It's not merely an imperfect bill. It's a complete train-wreck from start to finish for a variety of reasons.

NAMELY, these among others:

1. The number of illegal aliens under this bill will increase by a minimum of a factor of two and possibly three or four for the simple reason of it permitting extended families to enter the US who are nothing but relatives of people who aren't supposed to be here anyway. Conservatively speaking, that would entail cousins, uncles, aunts, parents and grandparents of each adult person who is here illegally. Doesn't that at least DOUBLE the number if not a lot more? This country can't handle what we have now. What you're trying to do wittingly or unwittingly is provoke civil unrest or worse.

2. The wages of citizens and legal residents in some occupations have already been impacted quite a bit, due to the refusal of dishonest employers who have witnessned a very TOKEN enforcement of the immigration laws to hire legal residents. Occupations such as the contruction industry have seen wages cut in half or more. Yes, those are becoming "JOBS AMERICANS JUST WON'T DO" only because any self-respecting American wants to work for slave wages doing a job that actually requires a lot more skill than mowing lawns.
What kinds of occupations are next? Whatever ones employers think they can get away with and some foolish and/or greedy Americans will continue to tolerate, that's what.

3. The language barrier, the fact of two separate standards with regards to treatment of citizens vs. non-citizens in the law, the fact of two standards of liability for citizens vs. non-citizens, and so many other issues that this bill doesn't even begin to address. Mr. Salazar, do you really mean to destroy this country because the people you want to protect are getting rights, privileges and protections that we citizens don't even have? Don't you comprehend the justified resentment that true Americans feel about this? Do you really think we're all just a bunch of racists? (GET THIS: WE'RE NOT) Every day we read of illegal aliens who commit serious crimes and get the revolving door and are allowed to go back to Mexico or wherever, then obtain another phony ID like the one they got in with in the first place, only to get another "bite at the apple" and the chance to hurt more innocent Americans. We read in your bill that children of illegals are going to be given the opportunity to get discount rates at institutions of higher education, rates that even American servicemen who fought in Iraq or Afghanistan can't even get if they are not citizens of the state for the school they want to attend. How unfair can unfair be?

This is just scraping the surface, yet it's a pretty damned good start.

S. 1348 is something you need to rightfully view as a complete sellout of America and a complete sabotage of the security of this country. It's worse than the status quo, _BECAUSE_ it completely legitimizes the status quo and you know it. The 1986 Amnesty did far more harm than good, and for some reason people like you don't remember that all it did was embolden and implicitly invite many millions more do break the law - which they promptly did! S. 1348 merely makes it official and pretty much wipes away the concept that anyone can be an illegal alien anymore. That's not a definition I am willing to destroy.

THERE IS A MEANING TO BEING AN AMERICAN CITIZEN! IT'S NOT A WORTHLESS IDEA!

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE! YOU NEED TO FIGHT AGAINST S. 1348 STARTING NOW!
