WE THE UNDERSIGNED wish to express our support for the Chaudhry family in their application to stay in Canada. Chaudhry Roouf Ahmad and Fakhira Chaudhry left Pakistan ten years ago, and since moving to Canada have made a home for themselves in Halifax. Newborn Muhammad Bilal Hasan and Noor Ul-Imaan, age 2, were born in Canada and Rukhna Roouf, age 8, was born in the U.S. The family's removal to Pakistan will cause them significant hardship by uprooting them from their friends, schools, communities and the country they consider home. The family make significant contributions to the Halifax community, and have become well-integrated and established here. Their business plan to open a Halal food restaurant has already been accepted by the Greater Halifax Partnership, and they have taken food safety courses to this end. They volunteer regularly in the community, and have enormous public support within the Muslim as well as broader community. Their removal would have devastating impacts on the family, especially the children, and would be a great loss to the Halifax community. We ask that the family be allowed to stay in Canada.
