Stand by Tarbut V'Torah

The Torah teaches us:

You will not go up and down as a talebearer among your people; neither shall you stand idly by the blood of your neighbor: I am the Lord.

The Tarbut v'Torah School community is being viciously attacked through a campaign of gossip, misrepresentations and lies. This series of attacks seeks to demoralize the administration, faculty and parents of the school. Ultimately, the victims of this outrage are our children who deserve to know that their school environment is both safe and stable. It is time to say вEnough!в to this behavior. To be silent any longer is to betray our Jewish values. As the Torah teaches, avoiding speaking and hearing slander is essential to creating a wholesome community. Speaking out when we see others wronged or harmed is a positive Jewish obligation.

It is true that in any community or organization there must be room for dissent and disagreement. Tarbut vв Torah has created ample channels for members of the community to share their ideas and concerns. For Tarbut vвTorah to grow and prosper, parents and other stakeholders must use these channels. Healthy dissent generates growth and maturity. Slander generates baseless hostility and contention.

We, the undersigned, demand an end to the campaign of slander against Tarbut vв Torah and commit ourselves to denying these slanderers an audience or lending credence to their claims. We urge the legitimate stakeholders in TVT to constructively contribute their time and talents to helping the school serve its students more effectively in keeping with the best of Jewish values.

We, the parents and members of this community wish to support Tarbut v'Torah on the whole and its administrators and teachers, individually. Based on first-hand knowledge and experience of these fine individuals we, the undersigned, wholeheartedly extend our support on their behalf.
