Star Wars Fans Would Like to See a Proper Restoration and Release of the Original Three Star Wars Films

In cinemas the original three made film history with viewers marvelling at the special effects and action. The sound itself was also a revolution with 'A New Hope' being one of the first films to a use a modern 'L-C-R-S' format in Dolby Stereo.
However, recent releases of these classics on home media have not lived up to fan expectations and could be greatly improved. I myself am not that concerned with changes to the original films as I am too young to have seen them in cinemas but others might be. The main problem is the sound and image quality.
The 2004 restoration DVD box set looks great in the detail with Lowry Digital doing a fantastic job of cleaning up the negatives but what has really suffered is the colour, namely it changes from shot to shot in some places such as Luke's lightsabre colour and the clothing worn by some characters doesn't look the same at all. Plus, it just seems, darker than it should be. After watching the 2004 DVD box set, I found myself preferring my 1997 VHS set as it had a nicer, bright picture with consistent colours. Sure it was not quite as detailed but it has that much better classic Star Wars atmosphere to it.
The 5.1 Dolby Digital digital track on the 2004 box set also sounds fantastic in most places, but the surround effect is much underused in my experience of it and the rear channels seemed swapped at times. Plus it would be very nice if you could try to keep John Williams great score intact in the Death Star attack sequence in a New Hope in the English version as the French one still has it done the original way.
Also you recently released the original untampered DVD box set of Star Wars but in the opinion of many fans this is an extremely poor release as its a non anamorphic 4:3 disc which is bad today as the majority of people now have a 1:1.78 TV and it would nice if you could watch it properly in full quality.
Thank You and Think about what I and a lot of fans are saying, so that there can be a much improved DVD box set released in future.
