Stop the Abuse at the Moiliili Branch of the Humane Society

As first reported in the Honolulu nightly news programs on KGMB, KITV, KHON, and KHNL and the major daily paper The Honolulu Star Bulletin, the Hawaiian Humane Society (AKA HHS) has been torturing the very animals it's entrusted to help - inflicting horrible cruelties far beyond what is acceptable by any reasonable standard of shelter operation.

Former and current workers report feral cats - in fact 85\% of all cats (feral or pets) taken in never walk out alive, but what people don't know is that they are first sadistically tortured by HHS.

Usually between around 30 cats a night are kept in small metal traps stacked one on top of another urinating and defecating on each other all night. But that is only the least of the cat's worries because they are placed ONLY 16 INCHES FROM A BLAZING HOT INCINERATOR FOR SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 12 TO 16 HOURS TIME. This is akin to someone putting their face a foot away from and oven while it is turned up to broil - except THESE CATS HAVE FUR, AND ARE IN METAL CAGES WITH NO FOOD AND WATER.

Next day, if they haven't already died, they are stabbed and speared in the heart or abdomen with a long needle while they are still in the cage. Often HHS workers stab them multiple times in their attempts to give them a lethal amount of barbiturates. And if they don't give them enough barbiturates...THEY WILL WAKE UP IN THE INCINERATOR WHILE THEY ARE BEING BURNED ALIVE. Why? Reports indicate HHS doesn't check to see if they're still alive before they throw them in. All they would have to do is use a stethoscope...but they don't. It comes as no surprise that one of the "euthanists" is nicknamed "Lisa Kevorkian" by co-workers, and she keeps a bumper sticker on her car's dashboard that says, "The Only Good Cat is a Dead Cat".

In effect, the Hawaiian Humane Society, located in the Moiliili section of Honolulu, has been appropriately nicknamed "The Moiliili Auschwitz". After all, there are well over 32,000 animals a year killed there.

And let's not forget the other animals. 100\% of all birds and other wildlife entering the Moiliili Auschwitz are killed because HHS has NO rehab program for sick or injured wildlife. Dogs are lined up on short
leashes in a row, all biting distance from one another and horribly stabbed in the heart one after another within view of the other dogs recovering from surgery, and often stuffed 5 or more dogs to a kennel. And when confronted with these eyewitness reports, they respond that the dogs are lovingly put to sleep - one person doing the injection the other cradling the dog in her arms petting the dog and calming the dog in
their last few moments. They are lying

The truth is that the Hawaiian Humane Society is a cruel and sadistic place for animals and it must be stopped.

We ask that the Attorney General in Hawaii fully investigate the Hawaiian Humane Society's Moiliili branch and prosecute the people responsible for the cruelty to animals in the care of this shelter. If need be, the Attorney General must also insure that all staff members are replaced if they are involved in the abuse of animals. Also, we ask that the Attorney General works to help establish uniform standards for the methods of euthanasia so that no animal is put down in cruel manner and so animals never again have to endure treatment like described above.

We also ask that the Hawaii Attorney General work to strengthen animal cruelty laws so that people who are abusive to animals get what they deserve instead of a slap on the wrist.

We also feel that State of Hawaii needs to set up groups or organizations that will rehabilitate wild animals that are injured for re-release into the wild.
