Stop the Facebook Injustice

Yesterday facebook massacred every newsie profile on there. Today, facebook decided to delete Louis Ballatt and Aaron Meyers for no reason. Who is to say that they are not real people? What is to stop facebook from determining that one is not real based only a whim? The great injustice in this is that there are profiles of "people" known as Talking Cheese that have been around for years. Does facebook delete them? No. For whatever reason, facebook is targeting only Newsie profiles. This injustice needs to stop. We believe that the best way for that to happen is for facebook to legalize all fictional characters. We, the undersigned, are petitioning for the legality of fictional characters. Our arguments are listed below:

1. It is obvious to everyone that the fictional character is not really you, and so there is nothing deceptive about it.

2. The role-playing enhances the Facebook experience and makes it more fun. If you ask me, taking on the persona of a fictional character on Facebook is no different than going dressed up to a movie premier or in costume to a convention.

3. Under Member Conduct in the Terms of Use, Facebook users are prohibited from doing or posting anything "harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, vulgar, obscene, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable." Fictional characters on Facebook are none of these things, nor do they "intimidate or harass another."

4. Facebook was created to be a networking tool; through the fictional characters we meet all kinds of fascinating people whom we would never have met otherwise.

5. And, most importantly, facebook will no longer have to "guess" as to the reality of individuals. No longer will we have to live in fear of being deemed fictional by the facebook administrators. And no longer will we have to worry about our "reality" being questioned.
