Fellow Patriots,

Our government cannot continue to borrow money, mortgaging our childrens future to pay for the political indulgences of the past. Our national decline began when, in complete contravention to the Constitution and the accumulated wisdom of the founders, our government took money from one group of citizens and gave it to another to buy votes and power.
Now we are faced with tough choices. Kicking the can down the road is not acceptable any longer. The Democrats continue to demagogue these issues with class warfare rhetoric and illogical arguments for continuing the insane wasteful spending programs that will bankrupt our national treasury.
Meanwhile, simple math principles should prevail. Each month, the national income ranges between $175 and $200 Billion while the interest on the national debt runs $20 Billion. Obviously, a default on interest payments is not necessary. Unfortunately, there will be pain, but the inability to borrow will force the federal government to prioritize spending.
Wise leaders should understand that penalizing the most vulnerable citizens is morally wrong. Payments to current social security recipients and active duty military personnel as well as paying for medical care through Medicare and Medicaid programs are a top priority and must continue without fail. Beyond that point, prudent choices must be made.
In essence, the federal government should be forced to spend taxpayer dollars for essentials first and look for ways to economize by running more efficiently, leaner and meaner, and by divesting itself of equipment, programs, and property that it can no longer afford to maintain and own. The steps each of us would take to preserve our familys economic balance under crisis conditions is exactly what we must demand of our government.
Government at all levels must stop interference in commerce, allow dead companies to die, and quit picking winners and losers based on political expediency. Unsuccessful and redundant government programs like the Department of Energy and Homeland Security must be eliminated, and government hiring and salaries must be severely reduced and restricted. Government entities like AMTRAK and the Postal Service should be sold to private companies who can run them efficiently and profitably.
Allowing the cost and size of government to increase is no longer an option. Like a sensible parent would do to a spendthrift child, we must revoke the governments credit card now to salvage our nations future.
