The Construction of a new K-8 School in Carbonear to Replace Davis Elementary

1. Carbonear has a central location for students from the catchment area and in the recently released School Organization Plan for the Eastern School District the town has been designated to have two schools - one for students from in grades K-8 and one for students in grades 9-12.

2. The current elementary school, Davis Elementary, was designed for students from Carbonear in grades K-6.

We are very concerned because there do not appear to be any plans by the Eastern School Board to build a new school in Carbonear to accommodate the proposed changes to the school population, and to ensure proper facilities for the junior high school population in Grade 7 and Grade 8.

For these reasons, I petition the Eastern School District to Construct a New K-8 School in Carbonear to Replace Davis Elementary.
