The Day of Sharing

We, the undersigned, believe fervently that all forms of art - music, photography, paintings, movies, books, poetry, etc. - have real value. We believe that artists and related craftspeople deserve the same rights to remuneration for their respective labors as do creators and purveyors of physical property (furniture makers, chefs, automobile manufacturers, etc.). It is clear to the undersigned that artists rights have been substantially and increasingly abridged by the laws in effect in this country regarding intellectual property rights on the internet. It is equally clear that internet service providers and other companies within the telecom industry are making billions of dollars monthly for providing access to the intellectual property rights of artistic creators without any remuneration or responsibility.
In order to make a bold statement to our legislators about the need for stringent laws and regulations to protect our artistic creators, we support the concept and reality of The Day of Sharing. On that day all tangible goods will be treated with the same financial considerations that are currently given to most of the arts - i.e., everything is free. We will all share everything on The Day of Sharing, expanding on the commonly accepted practice of filesharing. On November 27th, 2009, The Day of Sharing, we will all have the right to acquire anything we want from any store, restaurant, car dealership or similar establishment without any money changing hands. We will all be sharing.
