the need for lung transplants

This is a petition to make the need for a lung tranplant be based upon priority, and not based upon first come first serve.
Currently, my mother is suffering from a condition called Pulminary Fibrosis, or Interstitial Lung Disease. There are five million people worldwide that are affected by this disease. According to the Pulminary Fibrosis Foundation, In the United States there are over 200,000 patients with Pulmonary Fibrosis. As a consequence of misdiagnosis the actual numbers may be significantly higher. Of these more than 40,000 expire annually. There are no real cures for this yet, especially since Pulmonary Fibrosis is a very complex disease. Therefore, lung transplants are the only real answer.
So my question to you is, How long is a person in this condition supposed to wait before being given a lung for a transplant? Why is it that every other organ except the lung is given to people based upon priority?
Since there are no real cures or treatments for people with this disease, please help make it possible to give those who suffer with this a chance to live.
