The Teens Of Venice

We the teens of Venice, Florida have a need and desire that must be heard! We have practically nothing to do for our spare time. The youth center of Venice is not the place that teens want to go to because some people do not like the places atmosphere and many do not know of its existence. The old theatre was torn down and yes a new one is being built but it is taking forever to finish. The YMCA is a holding ground for little children, skaters, and the elderly. Such a place is fine for them but is not sufficient for our needs. Then there is the beach that is fun and enjoyable but even then the elderly feel that they own the whole beach and complain about our presence until we leave. We cannot go to the libraries in Venice because of the elderly and also its a library and you have to keep quiet. We could go up to Sarasota but even then it costs maybe on a light traffic day about $30 if your lucky. In a sense we cannot go there to hangout for the money and distance reasons.

We know that you have much on your plate and that you do your best in helping every aspect of this wonderful city. Also think of this When teens get bored what do they do? Stupid acts, which in turn cause our Police force to take time out of their busy lives to help the community be safe, to stop us from doing dumb things.

We desperately need your help and to show how much we need it we are creating this petition to gain your attention.
