The Underestimate of a Minor

Why is it that when a child speaks out or voices an opinion, it is ignored? A prime example of a childs voice not being heard is during a custody battle. Often, the situation is drug out much longer then necessary. Why is this? Because too many people feel a child themselves does not know what is best for them. Let me give you an example: A child decides he/she wants to live with his/her Mom, not Father. The child provides reasons as to how he/she made his/her choice and the judicial system ignores it. They brush it off as the child rebelling or some other temporary issue such as parent alienation. Think about it, if a child does not want to go to one parents home, there is definitely a reason for it! When a child reaches the age of 14 they are old enough to get a drivers license as well as a job, therefore they are clearly old enough to determine what they want in life, even if that means choosing one parent over the other. By signing this you are helping our future generations to have a voice in the legal system as to how their future develops!
