Residents whose homes back up to Oriente Drive (Next to Deerwood Elementary) have witnessed drag racing during the late night and early morning hours. Orange County Traffic Engineering also took a speed/traffic survey, determining the average speed of regular usage on Oriente Drive to be 42 mph. That is 17 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.
This is a very dangerous stretch of road, and many of our children may be at risk. The Security Committee has proposed that we install two speed bumps along the street to help deter the racing, speeding, and make this a safer street for all concerned. In order to install the speed bumps, we must have the approval of at least 66\% of the residents who would be affected, meaning those that frequently travel in and out of Oriente Drive.
We support the addition and placement of speed bumps on Oriente Drive.
