Tougher laws for sex offenders; in memory of Jessica Lunsford

To: Georgia Governor; U.S. Congress; President

This petition is created in the memory of Jessica Lunsford and to change the local, state and federal laws on sexual offenders. This petition asks that tougher laws be considered to prevent future abductions as Jessica Lunsford and the thousands of other children abducted by these criminals. We must do something as the cause for concern in reaching into every home and every family. We ask first, the Governor of the State of Georgia, to enact a law that would provide tougher penalties for those who commit heinous crimes on our children and innocent young adults!

The Department of Corrections should require all offenders to be monitored in several or all ways.

A. Home Detention Tracking Devices: Used to track those on house arrest. Providing this would cause the offender to likely be more scared of committing another crime due to the tracking provided.
B. Supervision: We must supervise the criminal on a weekly or even monthly basis. Providing this would startle the criminal and weaken the desire to commit another crime, reminding him the law is still watching him closely.
C. Tougher Laws: Tougher laws for those offenders on the first charge and second should carry a rather large lengthy sentence that would be almost like our lengthy gun law. These predators are more dangerous than a gun and are amongst all of us. An offender who commits a second offense should be sentenced for at least 20 years with no chance of parole.

A tougher law is the only thing next to more advanced monitoring and to the current database of offenders. We must provide large sentences to deter them from committing a first or even second offense. I ask that you sign this petition. You are also welcome to print it out and send it to your governor.
