Re: Waiver of Liability as Condition of Membership In GSSCC
The concept of a Waiver of Liability as a condition of membership is a prudent and practical step to protect the GSSCC of frivolous lawsuits; however, the arbitrary manner in which it is sought to be implemented is flawed.
It is clearly an amendment to the Conditions of Membership and as such is subject to Article 41 of the By-Laws. There was no mention of a waiver at the last general meeting. It is incumbent on the Executive Board to convene a special meeting so that the proposal can be presented, debated and sanctioned by the members.
The uniform application of its introduction and the implications of the proposed wording must be a matter for the membership to discuss. The GSSCC members may be willing to support and sign such a waiver if it was implemented in conformity with the By-Laws.
