We Will Sell Our Souls for David Grohl

Since the early 1990's, you have been single-handedly saving rock music from the depths of despair. Despite the rise and fall of pseudo-trends that have had no real beneficial impact on the industry besides marginalizing it and giving it a sense of insincerity, you, David Grohl, have consistently created quality music that is in its own genre. Not only have you been involved with some of the most influential acts in today's music scene (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Tenacious D to name a few), you have become an influential guitarist, singer, songwriter, and perhaps one of, if not the greatest living drummer today.

The extent of your skills and contributions are not confined to just music: each album you have worked on is a self-sufficient work of art. They have intrinsic artistic qualities even without listening the music. Furthermore, your music videos have continued to push the envelope and expand the reach of your artistry in a market largely dominated by formulaic videos and lackluster creativity.

As a result, we at Syracuse University, the hosts of WERW's prime-time radio show "I Sold my Soul for David Grohl", Syracuse Students and Faculty, local fans, and those from around the universe, would like to honor you, David Grohl, and present you with "The Man" award, because Dave Grohl, you are "The Man". Dave Grohl, we want you at Syracuse! We ask you to co-host our radio show "I Sold my Soul for David Grohl" for a day, accept your role as "The Man" by attending our "Dave Grohl is the Man" award ceremony and celebration here at Syracuse University, and accept our souls as our gift to you. We swear on Pat Smear's wardrobe we are not homicidal maniacs, just your loyal disciples.
