As a registered user of the Weight Watchers website, I am deeply disturbed by the launch of the new website for men, specifically the Letter from the (Mens) Editor, Jason Carpenter that appears on the home page.
While I recognize that women and men have unique weight loss or maintenance needs, and I applaud efforts to include men in the program, the benefits of one should not marginalize the other. Female members want access to the male member resources and avatars provided by Weight Watchers. We will not tolerate sexual discrimination in our weight loss program.
Such a website predicated on sexual stereotypes is offensive to the long-time base of WW subscribers - women. Moreover, statements made by Jason Carpenter in his Letter are patently offensive. Weight Watchers should not promote inequity or evoke an 'us' versus 'them' philosophy on weight-loss. We do not need to further gender fault lines in our society on this website.
