Whaling in Japan: Stop the cruelty

We feel that whaling is awful. Thousands of whales are unnecessarily slaughtered each year. They are killed barbarically and species are hunted to almost extinction. Japan and Norway continue to hunt Whales even though there is a ban. This is unfair and pointless. Is it worth hunting a species like the whale to extinction so that a few people can eat its meat when other food is preferred and far more available? Lots of whale meat is left unsold and uneaten.
Scientific research, as is sometimes used as a front for whaling, does not require the deaths of whales. Researchers in other countries can get along without whaling. Japan should be one of these. Please speak out against whaling.
