Windsor, Ontario - Support Plus Sized Women

With the growing number of pregnancies being celebrated by plus sized women it is about time that Windsor, Ontario have a store that caters to the needs of these women.

Do you know how embarrassing it feels to go into a maternity store to find that they carry nothing in your size? The highest size carried by a new retail Maternity Clothing store in Windsor is an XXL. This is about the same as a 1X at a plus sized clothing store.

For any of us that is a 2X or higher that means trying to squeeze into a tight pair of maternity jeans or resorting to spending our whole pregnancy in regular pants bought at a plus sized clothing store that just don't fit the same as maternity pants, don't offer the same support, and don't offer the same shaping qualities as a pair of maternity pants.

As a plus sized pregnant woman, I can bet that I'm not alone in my desire to have a pair of pants that accentuates the fact that I am pregnant rather than leaving people around me thinking "hmmm... pregnant or just fat?" When I am not pregnant I gravitate towards clothes that best suits my size and shape, so why am I not offered that opportunity when I am pregnant? Why is it that my clothing size should limit me from being able to purchase the comfy maternity panties that actually stay up rather than the usual plus sized ones that about 5 months into your pregnancy just don't stay where they use to.

So, ATTENTION ALL PLUS SIZED CLOTHING STORES & MATERNITY CLOTHING STORES:

We want to be able to purchase shirts and pants designed to accentuate our pregnancies, just like every pregnant women that fits in "regular" sized attire has access to. We don't want to spend our pregnancies feeling fat and frumpy and bad about myself when we know that there are better options out there, and we don't want to have to drive 3 hours to get to the nearest maternity store that caters to women our size because that just isn't convenient or fair.

It's time that a Maternity store that caters to plus sized women found itself a place in Windsor, or that an already plus sized clothing store introduced a line of maternity clothes to their collections. We have no doubt that it would thrive, and the signatures collected here showed provide all the proof needed.
