According to http://www.learninglinux.com/postp734.html#734
"Sam Lantinga, ex Loki Games employee who used to port mac games to Linux, and better known as the author of the SDL api is Software Engineer of World of Warcraft. We heard that the engineer of Quake and Doom is also an employee of World of Warcraft. Quake and Doom have a Linux port. Furthermore, a Blizzard Employee just said in their forums at Battle.net that World of Warcraft Server has a Dual-processor and runs on .... Linux OS ^_^"
And....
"The last version to ship (either by accident or on purpose) with linux binaries is 0.9.1.
Dont let people tell you these binaries are zeroed out and that your not [going to] be able to extract them."
(The code extracted from the linux files is also included on the page, but will not be included here)
Using WINE can be very difficult with WoW, and Cedega charges for its services(who wants to pay for both just to play a game?). Point is, when a game becomes this popular on just one operating system, would it not make sense to make it available to those on other systems? The money made from the extra subscriptions and box wholesales could be used to even upgrade the servers, as to fix the "up to a half hour wait" I've read and heard about to get on the servers.
Again, this petition is set up to include Linux in further developments of World of Warcraft. Those who sign, we highly recommend you tell your friends to sign as well. The more signatures we get, the better. Even if you don't have Linux, it will grant you the opportunity to make even more friends, and meet even more people on this extremely popular game.
