Yale Financial Aid - Faculty

As faculty instructing undergraduates of Yale College, we are concerned by the effects of the student contribution portion of the University's financial aid policy. Students who must work over ten hours per week to stay at Yale are often less able to participate fully in the classroom and do independent class work. We wish to see the University create an equal learning environment in which all students have the opportunity to make their academic work the primary focus of their time at Yale. We call on the Administration to reduce the student contribution by half and to allow financial aid students to waive their summer contributions twice during their four years at Yale.
