The bridge is very congested during rush hour as we all know.
A fourth lane should be added ( similar to the Massey tunnel) during the morning and evening rush hour. The northbound approach to the bridge could be modified so that two lanes are for Hwy 91 traffic and two are for Nordel traffic (widen on ramp for Nordel). The north end already provides 4 lanes ( 2 for the connector, 2 for the queensborough).
For afternoon traffic, the same in reverse, no change needed for south bound traffic when approaching the bridge from the north. At the south end of the bridge, no changes required (Nordel has two lanes to exit, simply have the overflow lane end after Nordel.
If , there are limited funds available and the choice is this option versus removing the light at 72nd, then I hope everyone sees the logic of an added lane versus removing a light that will simply move the bottleneck a little further up the highway
