Ballon Boy Hoax - Making the parents pay

As most of America and a good chunk of everyone else are aware, a boy named Falcon Henne was the center of a massive search and rescue campaign after he allegedly entered a balloon built by his father and floated across Colorado. Later it was "discovered" that Falcon was actually at home hiding in a box in an attic or garage (stories vary). On Larry King the family appeared with Falcon and he was asked why he didn't come out of the attic when he heard his parents calling for him. Falcon replied "You guys said that ... we did this for the show". Apparently his parents hadn't coached him well enough on the subject so he exposed their entire attention whoring hoax on national television. This petition is to push for prosecution of Falcon's parents for making false reports and wasting thousands in taxpayer dollars for the search and rescue efforts to find this "lost" child in "severe danger". It is clear at this point the parents were performing a publicity stunt to obtain attention, which the family first got from two appearances on the show "Wife Swap". This type of wasteful drain on police and fire dept, as well as National Guard resources is a crime and insult to all American citizens. Aside from your tax money being wasted on this farce, Denver airport also delayed flights, costing hundreds if not thousands, in interest of preventing an accident in a scenario that didn't exist simply because these "parents" couldn't get enough attention.

A message should be sent that these kind of actions are absolutely unacceptable, these "parents" both belong in prison. The importance of accountability for crimes like these can not be dismissed. Thank you.
