The Nigerian Government recently appointed Bolaji Aluko, a Nigerian currently living in the USA to a newly created University in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Aluko is not qualified and the Federal Government of Nigeria must withdraw his appointment if Government wants to be seen by the global community as serious in tackling the current mismanagement crisis that Nigeria now faces in Higher Education. In the USA, the highest academic position Aluko achieved was Chairman of a department at a University in the Washington DC area. He was not even Dean. His functions while Chairman would have been limited to departmental administrative duties. Second, Aluko has not really contributed to academic research. Most of his writings are political blogs on Yahoo and Nigerian Internet Websites, not peer-reviewed academic journals. In addition, Aluko does not have the social and interpersonal skills suitable for managing tribal diversity at a Nigerian University. Some of his writings have been very insensitive to Igbos of Nigeria.
