Bring Back The Kiss! Pride & Prejudice(2005)

This petition is call to arms (call out the Militia!) for the British/Irish/European fans etc. who have been denied the 'international' ending scene in the new film version of Pride & Prejudice (2005), Dir. Joe Wright.







Mr Wright, ladies and gentlemen of Working Title Films-We Want Our Ending Back! The final scene also known as the kissing ending/balcony scene/the 'Mrs Darcy' ending has been unceremoniously cut from the British/Irish/European release of the new film version of Pride & Prejudice. What did us poor Austen aficionados (in the country of her birth no less) do to deserve such injustice? I am all astonishment at this abomination! *ahem*







Mr Wright apparently stated at a Toronto screening that this scene (as featured in the trailer, a scene which indeed drew many people to the film in the first place!) would be included in the American/Canadian release of the film as they need a little sugar with their champagne. We do not apparently. Surely sir, you must know a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down? To build up such exquisite tension throughout this beautiful film only to deny us in the final reel is tantamount to cruelty. Upon my honour! My friends and I were shocked, shocked I say!







So we are requesting that the ending in question be reinstated for ALL DVD releases in all regions and perhaps sirs, you might be kind enough to permit a few special screenings this side of the pond with the infamous kiss in question included (think of the box office returns!). Even those have seen the film already would undoubtedly return for this scene alone.







So if you believe, as I do that we deserve better than this, mark your X below and I will duly send it on its merry way to Working Title and Mr Wright in an attempt to get us the happy ending we all truly wish for.
