CalArts Gender Neutral Bathrooms

We, the undersigned, support the creation of clearly marked gender neutral restrooms at CalArts.

Gender neutral restrooms are restrooms that are neither exclusively male nor exclusively female. This creates a safer space for transgender and gender non-conforming students, staff, and faculty, as well as people with disabilities.

We, the undersigned, ask for the creation of gender neutral restrooms on campus, because we support the basic right for all people to pee in peace, regardless of gender identity and expression. We are not asking for all restrooms to be converted. However, 1) all the single-stall restrooms on campus can easily be renamed as gender neutral, 2) gender neutral bathrooms should be considered in any new campus construction plans, and 3) we can start working toward converting some of the shared single-gender bathrooms to gender neutral.
