Call on Schwarzenegger to Invest in California's Children

What if California invested as much in our students as we do in our prisoners? Answer: we'd have fewer prisoners.

Seventy-five percent of State Prisoners in the U.S. don't have a high school diploma. And research shows that a lack of education limits opportunities and leads to an increase in criminal behavior. Investment now in our schools will provide opportunity for our children today and cut crime tomorrow.

The warning signs are obvious. State governments across the U.S. use 2nd through 4th grade reading levels to predict future prison populations because they know low scores mean more inmates.

We need to recognize the opportunity to help at-risk children succeed, before they become likely prisoners. Let's act now to get schools what they need and to lay the groundwork for a better California.

Demand that Gov. Schwarzenegger's office work to make investment in public education a top priority!
