We, the Concerned Citizens for Justice, tax payers of the state of Illinois, Families, Friends and Supporters of convicted felons who were convicted and sentenced for NON-SEXUAL offense crimes, petition Governor Rod Blagojevich, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Illinois lawmakers to repeal or strike all sections within Illinois Public Act 93-977 that pertain to non-sexual offenders. The definition and label of sex offender should only apply to those who have committed sex related crimes.
This law calls for individuals convicted on the following crimes Kidnaping;
Aggravated Kidnaping;
Unlawful Restraint Aggravated Unlawful Restraint;
First Degree Murder of a Child;
Child Abduction; and
Attempts to commit these offenses.
to be required to register as sex offenders if the victim was under 18 and the offender was at least 17 years old.
