Censor the FCC

We ask that the FCC stop using its judgment to determine what content is appropriate on Television and Radio.

The FCC does not represent the people of this Country, we have not elected anyone in that organization. None of us remember seeing Michael Powells name on any ballot. Therefore, under a true and fair Democracy, they should not have the right to regulate and or censor what we watch.

Responsibility begins in the household. If someone does not want their children to be exposed to a breast on TV, then they can simply turn it off. People should not expect public TV and/or Radio to be in line with their beliefs. No one is forcing anyone to watch TV or listen to Radio. It IS that simple.

Why should the creative forces in these industries work under the fear that something they do may harm their company financially because some minority group is offended?

That isnt how free speech works.

The FCC either needs to completely allow one of two things:

1) Free market regulation: The citizens of this country decide what is indecent or not by either tuning into or tuning out of broadcasts. When the public is not happy about something, they let the broadcasters know through the ratings. Some Government commission should not have a say in what I want to see or hear.

2) Create a public voter decided Indecency Panel. They would be elected directly by the public and would therefore more accurately represent the true viewing/listening population. This group would exist to define the rules that actually reflect the public.

It is unacceptable that while so many other countries in this world have been pushing the boundaries of broadcasting, our Government continuously redraws them; inward.
