CHANGE COVINGTON INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS BUS POLICY

This petition is an attempt to change the Bus policy in Covington Kentucky's Covington Independent school district. The policy clearly states that ALL children 1st grade and higher are to walk home from their bus stop even if a parent is not present. I feel this is an OUTRAGE!! Covington Schools need to take more responsibility for our children's safety. In my current location in Covington there are 10 sex offenders within 0.5 miles of my house. 8 out of 10 of these offenders committed crimes against children!!! Within 1 MILE of my house there are 44 sex offenders!! Why are we allowing elementary school kids to walk home without an adult present!? Putting aside all the offenders we have no crossing guards, people are not stopping for the bus stop signs so our children can not even safely cross the street, and if there is not a parent waiting at the stop for these elementary students who is to say there is anyone waiting for them at home!? Then what!? They are in the streets with the offenders... If you agree with me that elementary students should be accompanied home by and adult and if one is not present they should be bused back to the school for SAFE pick up please sign this petition. Our children need to be safe and the school needs to make sure this happens!!
