Council Member MATHIEU EUGENE authored Resolution 648, calling on the federal government to extend TPS (Temporary Protected Status) for Haiti, which will expire on July 22, 2011.

In March 2011, the New York City Council adopted Resolution 648, which was voted on and passed unanimously. Since last years earthquake, Haiti has experienced many crises, including the outbreak of cholera. More than a million Haitians are still living in tents. Due to the current critical situation in Haiti, please join Council Member MATHIEU EUGENE, a coalition of elected officials, individuals and community organizations in signing this petition urging the Federal Government to extend TPS for Haiti.

Councilmember Mathieu Eugene is also asking the Federal Government to grant TPS to Haitians who arrived in the U.S. after January 12, 2010.
