On April 1st, 1981, the face of television changed as MTV, a 24-hour based cable channel was launched on the air waves. This channel grew on and became a huge name around the world today being around for over 20 years. While video games were around in the late 1970s, they became a huge thing in the 1980s and remain as popular as they have ever been, if not even more popular. Through the 1980s to now, we have seen Televsion specials about video games (Secret Hits), animated series' (Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros., and Sonic the Hedgehog), game shows (Video Power, Nick Arcade), movies (Super Mario, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat), and other major media that revolves around video games. I think that by making a 24-hour channel dedicated to video games that the fans could look back at some of the memorable times in video games as well as have programs that inform fellow gamers about the latest industry buzz, and maybe even have new televion shows based on certain video games. Also on the channel, they could feature the classic cartoons such as the Mario Bros' series', the Sonic programs, and other various shows. I believe that this channel would be in high demand and could grow to be a huge name just like MTV, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network have done before it.
I encourage you companies to work out deals and could possilby work with other companies into working on a new channel. The people who signed this petition with me would be plessured with seeing this channel and we would demand to have our cable company carry it.
