Deregulation of Ontario Hydro

To the Ontario Legislature,

Whereas the Government of Ontario with its privatization and deregulation of Ontario's electricity system has led to rates that have more than doubled for consumers; and

Whereas privatization has never reduced the cost of any goods or services to the consuming public; and

Whereas electricity deregulation in California has led to blackouts and sky high rates; and

Whereas the sale of our electricity production company has yielded absolutely no net benefit to the Ontario consumer

Whereas Ontario needs a system of public power that will ensure a fair, stable rate;

Therefore let it be resolved that the undersigned call on the Ontario government to reverse electricity deregulation and privatization and bring in an accountable system of electricity delivery.
