The Video Game Market is an ever expanding market. With major competitors entering it. If there is a market which has slim competition, if any, it is worth seeking into it. The specific market I'm refering to is the handheld division of the Video Game Market. Many would argue the fact that one of the most popular Video Game systems of all time is the "Game Boy". Which has several versions of it. Each with impressive sales. This year Nintendo has introduced another version of the "Game Boy" system called the "Game Boy Advance". Leaving behind the "Game Boy Color". Now is an easy time for a company to enter a market which is currantly shifting. The "Game Boy Advance" is used as an inexpensive portable gaming device. It has connections to Nintendo's other console, the "GameCube". For Nintendo to have both their products connected in some way, gives an advantage to each of their products, something Nintendo's two consoles competitors do not have, but would much want and appreciate. This is where there is a gap left, a gap Sega Enterprises Ltd. can easily fill. Sega has years of experience in this field. In the past Sega has had handheld systems with not very much success. Due to marketing strategy and at some extent, weak support. Sega has what it takes to make this Idea a success. Yes it is a risk, but a risk worth taking if Sega can manage to gather enough support. The Dreamcast does not have to be a disaster. The Dreamcast can be a door leading to something wonderful. At this time, the Dreamcast Video Game system currantly sells at a retail price of $79.99. And in 2002 will drop to aprox. $50. The "Game Boy Advance" sells at a retail price of $99.99. This petition of support is for anyone who believes and will support Sega 100%. Here is the Idea of this petition: An Idea for Sega to continue the Dreamcast name in a slightly different form. This Idea would be a DREAM come true, for all gamers, and game enthusiests. Especially all of those who have supported Sega for years, and who will continue to do so. Sega will need support from Sony, and Microsoft. A handheld DC which can operate the same way the "GBA" does with the "GameCube", but with the "Playstation 2" and the "XBox". Sony and Microsoft should welcome this Idea since it will help promote and boost their sales against Nintendo. Perhaps a contract would fit in just nicely. A contract for exclusive SEGA titles for the "Ps2" and "XBox". Also giving customers one more reason to purchase a "Ps2" and "Xbox" over a "GameCube". Game Ideas from gaming legends such as Yuji Naka to create games for "GBA" and "GameCube" and have the games interact with eachother, can easily be switched over to have the handheld Dreamcast, interact with "Ps2" and "Xbox". Sega can continue to be a multi-platform developer, continue to have genuine Sega hardware on the market, and be profitable. SNK had a similiar vision, but did not plan it out right. Sega can help Sony and Microsoft increase sales, and Sony and Microsoft can help Sega increase sales, by helping promote such titles that link the systems together. This Idea benefits ALL of Sega's customers! All the currant Dreamcast owners will continue to have their system supported with games. A lot of people will purchase this handheld for the fact they can play Dreamcast games whenever, wherever. Sega we as the people who support you, are not asking for you to make a totally new Video Game system. We are not asking to throw away all your 3rd party plans. With this Idea, we are asking you to please continue to support the Dreamcast at least in one way or another. You can continue to make games your focus, but on the side you can give your customers what they also want. We are not asking for you to take a hit on sales for every handheld you sell either. Even if you have to find an electronic company that is interested in manufacturing handheld Dreamcasts, the same way "Panasonic" is making their own version of the "GameCube", that would be great. We understand that such a device would not be very inexpensive at all. Nor will it be the smallest (resembling a personal CD player). But it would have many, many advantages over the competition, the "GBA". The least you can do is: Do the math, come up with the Ideas, see around, talk it over with Sony, and Microsoft among many developers who would not mind redeveloping for the Dreamcast format, and even editors of various gaming publications. Find out just how much a handheld Dreamcast would retail for. After that's all done, survey all those owning a Dreamcast, "Playstation2" and a "Xbox", and get some feed back, as to if people will support this, and what they think. Sega you owe it to all your fans and customers, at least take a good look into it. THE NAME DREAMCAST MUST STAND FOR SOMETHING! All those who sign this agree with the above, and plege their support for Sega to look into this. Thanks to everyone for their time. Think long and hard before making a decision. -Jason O.
