Environment Canada has cut funding to it's Environmental Technology Verification Program; which verifies the vailidity of a product, or device in terms of addressing environmental issues. Currently 8,000 small companies are awaiting the expensive task of moving through the Environment Canada's verification system. Many of these companies cannot afford to pay the expense of verification which can range from $CAD20,00.00 to $CAD250,000.00. This is a bottleneck in moving environmental technologies onto the market. We need to address environmental issues now. The spin off effects will be jobs for Canadians, a move towards reducing pollutants, thus opening the door to an environmental economy.
