Fairness For All Tennants

To the House of commons,

The petition of we the undersigned,

Declares that we believe local authority tenents are currently excluded from services provided by Enviromental Health and Housing standards which are offered to tennants whose landlords permit their properties to fall into serious disrepair, which is hazardous to health and/or safety.

As both agencies are controlled by local authorities neither has powers of enforcement against local authorities, regardless of the severity or urgency of individual cases.

This clearly significantly disadvantages local authority tennants whose health and well-being should hold the same legal weight as any other member of society.

The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons amend current legislation giving tennants the power to make informed decisions by the mandatory disclosure of; any significant known defect within a property; any recuring defect; provision or access to maintenance logs and equal provision of servies such as Enviromental Health.

This would prevent local authorities wilfully witholding information which would have significant bearing on a tennants decision to accept specific tenacies.

And the petitioners remain
