We the undersigned demand the Florida Legislature not pass as currently drafted CS/SB 1488 and CS/HB 1937 which make substantial changes to current Florida law related to property insurance, primarily those changes affecting Sinkhole Coverage and the Value Policy Law.
CS/SB 1488 and CS/HB 1937 reflect an effort by the Insurance Industry to remove protections for insurance consumers within the State of Florida who have suffered damage to their homes and businesses. CS/SB 1488 & CS/HB 1937 are anti-consumer bills that would severely limit the rights of Florida insureds that have suffered a loss.
The proposed bills provide for changes which are anti-consumer and are devastating to consumer rights within the State of Florida.
We, the undersigned, join together in urging Florida Governor Jeb Bush, The Florida House of Representatives, The Florida Senate, Tom Gallagher, Florida Department of Financial Services, Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, Commissioner of the Office of Insurance Regulation - Kevin M. McCarty to not pass CS/SB 1488 and CS/HB 1937.
